A Leading Global Investment Management Firm
An industry-leading Asset Management Company, offering a wide range of investment management services, designing and implementing sophisticated investment strategies for institutions, consultants and advisers. This company maximizes global and local investment strategies through an inter-connected network of 28 offices and nine Global Investment Centers.
The Business Issue
The company provides a bureau-based administration and management function on behalf of a series of Investment Management Brokerages concerning the daily financial activities of their high net worth investors with a significant part of the administration function being related to physical information delivery to customers.
When the need arose to provide these services to brokerages across multi-national borders, they needed an international partner capable of providing an automated work-flow so that back-office image and document production could be seamlessly integrated with globally remote print and distribution partners. Quality of Service and control was paramount.
The Solution
DTP's JUPITER application provided the precise solution desired. We integrated with the client’s back-office processes automatically transfering daily and periodic based image data feeds for distribution globally according to each documents final destination.
Full control and review processing was implemented catering for multi time-zone schedules, on-line document approval, print, reprint and postal dispatch are all encompassed with full monitoring under an easy to use web interface.
Additional value adds provided by the Jupiter solution include full application context management information reporting, flexible archiving and on-line storage.
By adopting a DTP solution, this client has seen considerable reductions in cost of production, distribution, and the overall process with automated management reporting and high levels of control.
A Leading Chemical Company
Our client invoices for their goods as a number of different trading companies and were looking for a way to improve the processing of their invoicing.
The Business Issue
Each trading company had a specific pre-printed stationery to be used for the invoices with associated management and cost implications. This costly stationery included a logo on the facing page and terms and conditions on the reverse. A weekly a run of invoices was made generating a formatted ASCII data file ready to be printed on the pre-printed stationery.
The Solution
After consultation DTP implemented a solution based around our proprietary JUPITER platform doing away with the pre-printed stationary relying instead on digital templates. Using the JUPITER API a turnkey system was made possible where each day deliveries of invoicing data in the original ASCII format are made to the Jupiter servers. Each delivery is tagged as belonging to a specific delivery and once at the servers, the invoicing data is broken down and merged on the server with the specified template before transmitting a print ready file to the chosen document service provider. In addition, the terms and conditions that previously appeared on the reverse of every page are now merged onto the back of page one of each invoice only. This makes for a saving of almost 50% in paper along with the removal of the overhead of pre-printed stationery management.
Financial Publisher
A leading US-based publisher of subscription based financial newsletters and magazines with offices around the world.
The Business Issue
As part of the subscription solicitation process for each newsletter, a number of customised renewal letters needed to be sent to the client at various periods. Each renewal letter has four versions of increasing intensity to entice the reader to renew. In addition the subscription price for a newsletter needed to be variable in response to special promotions.
The management of the subscriptions was based around printing black and white digital imagery onto pre-printed stationary. This involved the upkeep of hundreds of different pre-printed stocks, a method open to error and expensive to manage, especially as the print run for a particular newsletter could be less than 100.
The Solution
DTP designed and implemented a solution based around their proprietary JUPITER platform which did away with the need for pre-printed stationary, creating instead digital templates that could be merged with the variable data for each renewal notice. To keep the costs down digital highlight colour technology was implemented which gave the best quality/price solution. For ease of implementation, DTP worked with the original format data files already in use. This file is transferred securely from the client to JUPITER. The file is then interrogated and merged with the relevant digital template based on client business rules. The merged print-ready file is then electronically dispatched to a Document Service Provider nearest the point of dissemination.
The flexibility of the system was demonstrated when the client decided to outsource their data handling to a third party, necessitating a change in input data format from Tab separated files to fixed width files. This was accommodated in Jupiter within a day.
The client saw their print costs drop dramatically by 80% with increased flexibility to allow for a totally automated workflow and the ability to distribute their data globally for local print.
A Leading Global Investment Bank
One of the leading global Wall Street investment banking, securities and investment management firms, providing a wide range of services worldwide to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high net-worth individuals. It is one of the oldest and largest investment banking firms. The firm is headquartered in New York with offices in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong and other major financial centers around the world.
The Business Issue
This company needed to create, produce and issue for delivery on a daily global basis financial research subject to internal and external governance and regulatory constraints. This research, in the form of bound printed matter, had to deliver an ROI and be accurate, timely and delivered as near as simultaneously worldwide. Costs of production and delivery must be reduced without sacrificing quality or delivery standards.
The Solution
DTP created a total workflow solution allowing the production department to completely control the workflow of research reports whilst enabling them to gather important management information at a granular level. Jupiter allows the client to determine the most cost effective method to print and distribute their products by allowing them to run a full pricing analysis for any job before submission and, due to the clients IT regulations, this is all enabled via a secure web interface to the Jupiter system, created to avoid the need for any software installation. Jupiter acts as a repository of data for jobs in pre-submit stage, a monitoring system for submitted jobs, and an archive system for completed jobs.
International Mobile Rental Company
A UK-based leading supplier of international mobile handset rentals with turnover approaching £2b and nearly 10,000 international customers.
The Business Issue
Once a month invoices were generated in-house, fulfilled and posted via the Royal Mail with full first class international postage. This meant sourcing people once a month and relying on the inconsistencies of international postal delivery. Quality was inconsistent, postage was expensive, archiving and storage of second print runs was required and in order to support the customer service function. The customers received their invoices and statements many days after costs were incurred.
The Solution
DTP implemented a solution that did away with the pre-printed stationary, relying instead on our platform Jupiter to collect print ready files generated directly from within their mainframe accounting package. Upon the close of business each day in the UK, an electronic delivery is made with the invoices allocated to a print and fulfilment location in the USA. Making use of the time delay between these two countries, the invoices can be printed and posted the same day they are created. Cash flow improved dramatically, postage was reduced by 50%, print costs reduced by 25% and labour reduced by three temporary staff.
The Operations Manager of our client stated 'The adoption of a DTP solution has dramatically reduced the cost of our invoicing process and also made it possible to significantly improve the cashflow of the company.'
In addition, through the use of Jupiter, our client has been able to significantly improve customer management processes. Its customer support staff now retrieves customer invoices as composed images via the web, and emails or reprints and posts the next day. In addition, all undeliverable addresses are captured and input allowing the client to immediately update the accuracy of their database.
World’s Largest International Multimedia News Agency
THE global information company providing indispensable information tailored for professionals in the financial services, media and corporate markets. Their information is trusted and drives decision making across the globe. They have a reputation for speed, accuracy and freedom from bias.
The Business Issue
Our client had a need to print and distribute Training Material for a global project. With 92 individual products to be produced within very strict deadlines in 22 countries, they knew that the conventional bulk printing in the UK and using a courier-service for delivery would not be fast enough. Additionally they wanted to reduce costs where they could as the courier bill alone for shipping over 4 tons of material around the globe was considerable.
The Solution
After analysis of the volumes involved and their destinations, our solution was to print the material in three location: London, New York and Hong Kong. This split print method allowed reasonable printing rates in each region due to a large enough volume whilst decreasing the distribution time from 1-9 to 1-2 days for most regions cutting courier costs in half.
The entire process of printing and distribution was co-ordinated through our workflow engine JUPITER which gave the client a ‘live window’ into the print and distribution process. Additionally, all material was logged and cross referenced with courier AWBs so remote training centres receiving the material could immediately see what they had or hadn't received and were able to check the status of materials they were expecting.
All deadlines for the courses were met and all queries dealt with immediately via the Jupiter web interface, which left us with a very happy customer. In fact we were then asked to manage the French and German versions...
